Orenda Welfare Trust (“we,” “us,” or “Taleemabad”) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all users of our platforms and services, including teachers, school administrators, students, parents, and government education officials. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 Teacher Data

When teachers use our coaching system, we collect:

  • Audio recordings of classroom lessons, submitted voluntarily by the teacher via WhatsApp
  • Name and contact information provided during onboarding
  • School and district affiliation
  • Coaching interaction history (feedback received, responses given, implementation records)

2.2 Student Data

  • Attendance records collected through SchoolPilot, our school management platform
  • Assessment scores from in-app quizzes and school-level assessments
  • Basic demographic information (name, grade level, school) as provided by schools or synced from government databases under authorized data-sharing agreements
  • Learning progress data (lessons completed, quiz results, time on task)

2.3 School and Administrative Data

  • School operational data: attendance rates, assessment aggregates, compliance records, task completions
  • Administrator usage data: dashboard logins, report views, feature usage

2.4 Technical Data

  • Device type and operating system
  • App version
  • Crash logs and performance data
  • IP addresses (server logs, retained temporarily)

3. How We Use Data

We use collected data exclusively for educational purposes:

  • Teacher coaching: Audio recordings are analyzed by our AI system to generate personalized pedagogical feedback. Audio is processed for analysis and is not permanently stored after feedback generation.
  • Student learning: Assessment and progress data are used to personalize learning paths and measure educational outcomes.
  • School management: Attendance, assessment, and operational data are used to support school administrators in managing their schools efficiently.
  • Government reporting: Aggregated, anonymized data is provided to authorized government education officials through our GovIntel platform to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Research and impact evaluation: Anonymized and aggregated data may be used for educational research, impact evaluation, and program improvement, including with authorized research partners such as the World Bank, Georgetown University, and Aga Khan University.

4. How We Protect Data

  • Audio recordings: Processed for AI analysis and not retained permanently. Recordings are not shared with third parties in identifiable form.
  • Student data: Anonymized before use in any aggregated reporting or research. No individual student can be identified in government dashboards or research outputs.
  • Encryption: Data is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL). Data at rest is stored in encrypted databases.
  • Access controls: Only authorized personnel with a legitimate educational purpose can access personal data. Role-based access controls are enforced across all platforms.
  • Government data agreements: Where data is synced from government databases (such as PEFSIS), access and use are governed by formal Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) specifying data ownership, usage rights, and privacy obligations.

5. What We Do NOT Do

  • We do not sell, license, or share personal data for advertising or commercial profiling.
  • We do not use student data to target advertising at students.
  • We do not share identifiable teacher or student data with third parties for purposes unrelated to education.
  • We do not retain audio recordings beyond what is necessary for generating coaching feedback.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Government education partners: Aggregated school-level data shared with authorized education officials under MOUs, for the purpose of education management and policy-making.
  • Research partners: Anonymized, aggregated data shared with authorized academic and research institutions for educational research and impact evaluation.
  • Service providers: Limited technical data shared with cloud infrastructure providers (for hosting and processing) under data processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements: Where required by law or valid legal process in Pakistan.

7. Children’s Privacy

We take the privacy of children seriously. The Taleemabad Student App is designed for use by children, and we collect only the minimum data necessary for educational purposes. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without institutional authorization (through their school’s participation in Taleemabad programs). Parents and guardians can contact us at info@taleemabad.com to request access to or deletion of their child’s data.

8. Data Retention

  • Audio recordings: Deleted after AI analysis and feedback generation (typically within a year).
  • Student learning data: Retained for the duration of the student’s enrollment in a Taleemabad-partner school, plus a reasonable period for research and impact evaluation.
  • Teacher coaching data: Retained for the duration of the teacher’s participation in coaching programs, plus a reasonable period for program evaluation.
  • Aggregated/anonymized data: May be retained indefinitely for research and program improvement.

9. Your Rights

Users have the right to:

  • Access their personal data held by Taleemabad
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of their personal data, subject to legitimate educational and legal retention requirements
  • Withdraw consent for audio recording and coaching at any time

10. Compliance

We comply with Pakistan’s data protection regulations and the privacy requirements of our government partner MOUs. Where our platforms are used in other jurisdictions, we comply with applicable local data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through our platforms. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
